Updated information on Exchange and International Credit Use in the EU ETS

The European Commission hereby announces the following information concerning the aggregate number of international credits that were exchanged for allowances by EU ETS operators by 31 October 2015:

The aggregate number of international credits exchanged amounts to 387.64 million since the exchange function has become operational in March 2014. This is an increase of 0.97 million credits compared to the aggregate number of international credits exchanged that was published in May 2015.
Since 31 March 2015, only credits issued in respect of emissions reductions generated during the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol (so-called "CP2-credits") can be exchanged in the EU ETS.

The overall CP2 credits exchanged since March 2014 were 3.35 million Certified Emission Reductions (CERs).
